Stomach massage is one of the basic exercises in the Pilates Reformer repertoire, but I hear lots of my clients groan when this exercise is mentioned. Why? ![]()
Gripping hip flexors, tight back, tight shoulder, just too uncomfortable. Some people might not be ready for the full exercise on the reformer. ![]()
Think about what the purpose of the exercise is: lengthen and stretch the spine in a long C curve and feel the connection to the powerhouse through the springs. I help them achieve the essence of the exercise first on the tower. ![]()
The Tower gives us a more achievable position, creating a nice connection to the centre as opposed to just powering through the legs. ![]()
